Who are the mentees?

Women from the student and/or scientific community, developing their academic activity in the area of ​​Informatics, interested in reinforcing key competences associated with their academic and career development.

Types of mentees

Female undergraduate, master or doctoral students at the University of Coimbra (or hosted by the University of Coimbra).

Teachers at the beginning of their career, that is: assistant teachers (or equivalent).

Early career researchers, that is: research assistants or post-doctoral work; junior and assistant researchers (or equivalent).

What do you expect to do as a mentee?

Set personal goals and be responsible for following up on any planned actions together with your mentor, in order to achieve the goals set.

Participate assiduously in individual mentoring sessions (about four one-hour sessions, over the course of a school year) and be receptive to information, advice and suggestions from the mentor.

Participate in group mentoring sessions on various themes, and in which the introductory session is included, which will last approximately 2h30.

What to expect from the program?

Individualized support from a more experienced colleague willing to share her/his experience and knowledge.

Help in reviewing and reflecting on career options, their planning, promotion and progression, so that it leads to efforts alignment towards a clearer career pathway.

Sustain in the development of key professional and interpersonal skills, in the studies/career context and that prepares for “socialization in the discipline”, as well as strategies on how to balance work and personal/family/well-being.
